五月初，蘋果卡內基圖書館店（Apple Carnegie Library）于弗農山廣場（Mount Vernon Square）開業，它所處的建筑，前身正是卡內基圖書館（即中央公共圖書館），這是華盛頓第一座公共圖書館，整體呈古典主義建筑風格。

這是華盛頓的第二家蘋果零售店，由老搭檔福斯特建筑事務所操刀。在這棟超過百年歷史的老建筑里開新店，福斯特采取的策略并非對其大動干戈而是盡可能地修復它。據說，這也成為迄今為止蘋果最大規模的歷史修復項目，佛蒙特州大理石外墻和建筑南側的雕塑都得到了翻新修復。

而想要讓它看起來現代化，設計團隊采取了在屋頂開天窗，讓大量自然光線進入空間內的小妙招。設計風格

上，大體還是保留原建筑的風貌，整個空間看上去就是一個古典與現代的結合，不至于太突兀，卻煥發新的生命力。

據《硅谷商業雜志》(Silicon Valley Business Journal)報道，這座圖書館的書庫還被改造成了“天才吧”(Genius Bar)，全木設計為其增添了活力。原來的紀念碑東側和西側的閱覽室現在分別是蘋果手表和iphone的展示空間。

選址講究幾乎已成為線下零售店的共同宿命，而將特色老建筑改造翻新也是品牌們瞄準的第一目標。
